The Kentucky Wildcats have arrived in Seattle, Washington, ahead of their big top-10 matchup with the Gonzaga Bulldogs. They spent the day practicing and enjoying the sights and sounds of Seattle. One of the most famous parts of Seattle is the Pike Place Market, where fresh fish, flowers, trinkets, and all sorts of vendors sell their goods. Tossing fish has become a famous emblem of the market and is often used for sporting spots in and out of commercial breaks and for a good time.
Backup point guard Kerr Kriisa gave it a shot and successfully caught the first slimy fish tossed to him in a hilarious video. You can tell he is having fun and enjoying his time in Seattle. If you haven't seen the video, here it is:
The vendors, instead of walking around from the front of the stalls to the back of the counter, will toss fish to each other. That's how the tradition got started, and it's not as easy as it looks, though there are some tricks to it. The fish are slimy enough that they want to slip through your hands as you try to squeeze them closed. You can see this happen a little with Kriisa, but he's able to catch it before it drops.
Kriisa had an underwhelming performance against Clemson and will be looking to get back on track against Gonzaga. He may also be called on for a bigger role as starting point guard Lamont Butler rolled his ankle against the Tigers. Head coach Mark Pope is optimistic that Butler will be good to go tomorrow, but either way, Kriisa may need to play extra minutes. Hopefully, those soft hands help facilitate a strong offense when called upon.
There's also a fun video of Collin Chandler sticking gum on the famous gum wall in Seattle:
You can watch the game on ESPN2 at 10 pm EST. It will be the third time that Kentucky has played Gonzaga; they have lost the last two and are looking to change that Saturday.
