Kerr Kriisa has always been known for his ability to have "competitive talking," as he likes to call it. Others have referred to it as trash-talking, but he has become known for it either way. A few days ago, he made headlines with the comment about playing Cooper Flagg and Duke, "The whole world is talking about Cooper Flagg. Excited to play against the No. 1 overall draft pick. Congrats to him on getting that already."
This was a legendary quote, and he was asked about it in a post-game interview after Kentucky's massive upset of Duke in the State Farm Champions Classic 77-72. He doubled down with another iconic line about Flagg: "He's the number one pick, but we got the win."
"He's the number one pick, but we got the win." -Kerr Kriisa
In the interview, Kriisa laughed about how everyone was saying he was making fun of Flagg, but that wasn't the case; he actually thinks he will be the number one pick. He went on to explain what is so impressive about Flagg's game and how good he is. This time, there did seem to be some genuine awe of the young phenom's talent. However, he laughs because Kentucky got the win.
"He's tough. He tries to make the right plays; he's not selfish. His physicality, for a freshman, is impressive. He's not scared of a moment... He's the number one pick." Kriisa said that in that same interview about Flagg.
Here you can see the whole clip:
In the same interview, he talks more about this "competitive talking" and how he was having a fun trash-talking session with a Duke fan during the game. The Duke fan was making fun of his mustache, but Kriisa said that he was gone when he went to find him at the end of the game. So he leaned into the camera and said, "If you’re the Duke fan by the courtside, the stache did the work!" Kriisa is going to be one heck of an infamous player for Kentucky, and it's just getting started.
