Kentucky women’s basketball scores big as 5-Star Kaelyn Carroll commits to Kenny Brooks
By Mark Knight
Kenny Brooks and his newly built Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball team have been winning on the court, with a 3-0 record, but have yet to win in the recruiting world. That changed today in a huge way as one of the top women's players in the 2025 class, Kaelyn Carrol, committed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats today.
It was a much-needed victory for Brooks as he had yet to secure a player in the class and knows he will need a few with three players graduating at the end of this season: Jordan Obi, Georgia Amoore, and Dazia Lawrence.
Kaelyn Carroll, a 5-star (by ESPN) power forward out of Massachusetts, will continue to add height to an already tall team. Carroll is listed at 6'2" and was probably swayed to see how the other bigs at Kentucky are being used and the success of the two Claras: Strack and Silva. Carroll picked between many of the top women's programs in the country: Ohio State, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Villanova, and truly many others. She had at least eight recorded offers.
There is still one more known recruit on Kenny Brooks' radar: Agot Makeer, one of the top five players in the entire 2025 class. She is the top guard and a game-changer on both the defensive and offensive ends of the floor. She plans to commit next week on November 17th and is also down to six schools: South Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Michigan State, and UCONN.
Kenny Brooks may still be chasing other names, and he may even have another overseas player in mind. Or maybe he will re-tool with the portal again—we will see. But he's doing what he can to help recruit by winning games. Kentucky women are undefeated on the year, and that dramatically helps recruiting.
