The Kentucky women’s basketball team is making a loud statement in SEC play, combining clutch performances with record-breaking shooting from beyond the arc. After setting a program record with 18 made three-pointers in their SEC opener against Mississippi State, the Wildcats followed it up with another dominant display from deep, defeating Vanderbilt 96-78 to improve to 2-0 in conference play.

The Wildcats’ historic performance against Mississippi State was powered by Georgia Amoore, who nailed 7 three-pointers en route to her fifth consecutive 20-point game. Amoore, a transfer with a penchant for delivering in big moments, leading Kentucky to an 18-33 performance (54.5%) from distance.
The 18 threes broke the previous program record and underscored Kentucky’s ability to stretch defenses with relentless outside shooting. Pair that with Clara Strack down low and the offense can be elite.
Continuing the Momentum
.@KentuckyWBB so far this season is averaging 9.1 made 3-pointers per game. The school record for most made 3-pointers per game in a single season is 8.4 in 2019-2020.

The Wildcats carried that momentum into Nashville, where they squared off against Vanderbilt and delivered another three-point clinic. Kentucky shot 15-31 (48.4%) from beyond the arc.
Over their first two SEC games, Kentucky has connected on a jaw-dropping 33-64 from three-point range (51.6%), a mark that not only leads the conference but puts them among the best in the nation over a 2 game stretch. Those are numbers that would make Mark Pope jealous.
Looking Ahead
The Lady Cats now set their sights on a Thursday matchup against Florida, aiming to keep their shooting streak alive and build on their early SEC success. With Amoore playing at an All-American level and the entire team thriving in a system built on ball movement and spacing, Kentucky has the firepower to compete with anyone in the conference, if they can hit the outside shot like this.
For Kentucky fans, the last two games have been nothing short of electrifying. With their sights set on extending their SEC win streak and continuing their torrid shooting, the Lady Cats are a team no one wants to face right now.
