The Kentucky women's basketball team is on an impressive run before they begin SEC conference play. They are 11-1 and have four straight games scoring 80+ points as an offense. The key to that offense is star point guard Georgia Amoore, a transfer from Virginia.
Amoore had a slow start to her time at Kentucky but has really turned it on lately, scoring when needed and assisting her teammates the rest of the time. She is the spark plug to the team on both ends of the floor, and it's evident that her teammates feed off of her energy. Her career turns a new page on impressive as she is now the only active player in all of college basketball, both men's and women's hoops, to have 2,000+ career points and 700+ career assists. In the most recent win for Kentucky over Western Kentucky, Amoore had 21 points, 9 assists, and went 8/15 from the field. She wasn't the only Lady Cat to put together a really impressive game, Clara Strack had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Amelia Hassett was on the verge of her own double-double with 12 rebounds and nine points. The player that everyone was the most thrilled with after the game was Saniah Tyler, who went 3-4 from deep and had 11 points off the bench.
The Wildcats are rolling and don't look to slow down before conference play. In fact, head coach Kenny Brooks said post-game that they have four new plays that they haven't used yet and will implement during the SEC games, adding a whole new wrinkle to their offense.
The Kentucky women's basketball team starts conference play with Mississippi State on January 2nd at home in Memorial Coliseum at 7 pm EST. That game will air on SECN+. The Bulldogs also have only one loss and will come into that game at 12-1.
