Kentucky women's basketball dominates Tennessee in historic beatdown

The Vols were higher ranked, but someone forgot to mention that to the Lady Cats. They came out and utterly dominated the game, and the score was not as close as the game actually was; and the score wasn't close.

The No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team delivered a jaw-dropping performance, routing No. 11 Tennessee 82-58 in Lexington at Historic Memorial. This wasn’t just a win—it was a statement victory nationally. The victory marked the largest margin of triumph in program history against the Lady Vols, a 24-point beatdown that showcased Kentucky’s dominance on both ends of the court. Leading the charge was sensation Clara Strack, who etched her name deeper into the Wildcats’ record books with a night for the ages; and a season for the memory banks.

Strack was unstoppable, finishing with 23 points on a flawless 11-for-11 shooting from the field—the highest field goal total without a miss in Kentucky history. She didn’t stop there. The 6-foot-5 center hauled in 15 rebounds and swatted away three shots, pushing her season block total to 67. That number shattered Victoria Dunlap’s 15-year-old single-season record of 66, set in 2009-10. Strack’s blend of efficiency, tenacity, and defensive prowess turned Memorial Coliseum into a celebration of Wildcat supremacy.

Kentucky’s victory wasn’t a solo act. Teonni Key added an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Georgia Amoore dished out seven assists to go with her 18 points. Dazia Lawrence chipped in 13, rounding out a balanced attack that shot 52% from the field and outrebounded Tennessee 52-31. The Lady Vols, who entered as the nation’s top scoring offense at nearly 90 points per game, were held to their lowest output of the season. Kentucky’s defense, anchored by Strack’s record-setting shot-blocking, smothered Tennessee’s high-powered attack.

This 22-5 squad isn’t just rewriting history—they’re building momentum for a deep postseason run. With Strack breaking records and the Cats dismantling rivals, Kentucky women’s basketball is a force to reckon with.

How will can they climb and how far can they go will largely depend on the play of Georgia Amoore, Clara Strack, and Teonni Key. For now, BBN can soak up being 3-0 against the Vols on the hardwood.
