The Kentucky women's basketball team cruised into the SEC opener and didn't stress the entire game, dominating the Mississippi State Bulldogs. From start to finish, it was all Wildcats, and head coach Kenny Brooks continues to impress. He has already matched the win total from last season in his first few months on the job. The turnaround has been stunning and Kentucky looks ready to face any foe this season.

If the throttling of the Bulldogs wasn't enough, it was also a record-setting night for the Wildcats. They broke the game-high of three-pointers made in a game with 18. The previous mark was 16. The two ladies featured in the article image, Dazia Lawrence and Georgia Amoore, were the key to all those made three-pointers. Each of them made seven of threes.

According to Corey Price, it was also a historic night for Lawrence as she became the second-highest point scorer for the Wildcats in an SEC season opener. Lawrence scored a career-high 28 points for the Wildcats. The Bulldogs had no answer for Lawrence.

After the game, Kenny Brooks was effusive about Lawrence: "This kid is so fun to coach. When she's playing like this, it's fun...The best thing about her is not that she hits seven threes, but she'll be the CEO of a company one day. That's how special she is."

Brooks also admitted that he was nervous heading into the SEC opener; he said he had knots in his stomach about it and was anxious to get it underway. He no longer has to be nervous about it, not only because his Wildcats performed marvelously but because it's behind him. Now, it's only the second game of the SEC season, which is against Vanderbilt in Nashville on January 5th. The game will also be on SEC Network+, which is a streaming-only game.
