Kentucky eyes five-star Caleb Holt after rescheduled visit dates

The race for Caleb Holt is heating up—and Kentucky is still very much in the picture.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound five-star guard out of Prolific Prep has moved his official visit to Kentucky from September 5–7 to September 12–14, giving the Wildcats one more chance to impress before visits to Alabama and Ole Miss.

Holt, ranked the No. 5 overall prospect and the No. 1 shooting guard in the 2026 class, is a two-way bulldozer with a college-ready frame and a non-stop motor. He starred alongside Kentucky freshman Jasper Johnson, and 2026 target Tyran Stokes at the U19 World Cup, where the team reclaimed gold.

“Strong, athletic, relentless,” 247Sports' Adam Finkelstein said of Holt. “He’s got size at 6-5 with a 6-9 wingspan and punishes defenders on drives. His upside is enormous, especially as he sharpens his guard skills.” This is the kind of player Pope is valuing now that he has been through the grind of a SEC season.

Holt is a true three-level scorer with explosive downhill ability. Though his three-point shot is still developing, he’s dangerous from mid-range and has the strength to finish through contact. Defensively, he can switch 1 through 4 and rebound at a high level.

For Mark Pope and Kentucky, this visit is critical. The staff views Holt as a priority piece in the 2026 class, one who could headline the next great backcourt in Lexington.

The SEC battle is real. Ole Miss and Alabama both have momentum, but Kentucky’s relationships—especially with Johnson—could be the swing factor. A strong official visit and an early vision from Pope might be the difference between a commitment or a conference rivalry.

Circle September 12. Holt’s trip to Lexington could determine where one of 2026’s best ends up.
