Three tight ends have left the Kentucky Wildcats since the transfer portal opened ten days ago. The room was looking bare for that position group, and head coach Mark Stoops needed to add some players to that room. The first one to come in is Henry Boyer, a transfer from the Illinois Fighting Illini. He is a tall, athletic, blocking first tight end who is looking for a starting role on the field.

Boyer has finished his sophomore year and has been playing for a few seasons for Illinois. He has mostly been used in the blocking game and only has three career receptions. At 6'6 and 270 pounds, he is a big body, which is why when he was in high school, he played a lot of tackle. This is where his abilities mostly land in the blocking game. He has the strength and ability to help in the running game from the tight end position.

According to 24/7 Sports, "While Boyer didn't make a big impact last season, he played 135 snaps, third-most among Illinois tight ends." There is something that he is looking to prove at his next stop, and Kentucky sees the potential in him. The good news is that the Wildcats often have elite tight ends who come out of high school with all the accolades and plenty of recruiting stars; they often use them in blocking situations. Boyer fits this mold to a T.

Boyer is the eighth player in the transfer portal recruiting class, and there are many more to come. Kentucky still has more that have left than those that have come. The Wildcats have lost 23 players to the portal and will need to pick up a bunch more to fill the team and be competitive in the SEC. Boyer is a step in the right direction.
