Don’t look now, but Kentucky volleyball is quietly becoming the most dominant team on campus, and it is not very close.
After a thrilling four-set win over Texas A&M in College Station, the Wildcats improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in SEC play. It marked their eighth straight win and another example of why Craig Skinner’s team is built for another deep postseason run.
A gritty road win
The match showcased balance, poise, and star power. Eva Hudson led the way with 24 kills and 13 digs, while Brooklyn DeLeye added 19 kills and 41 digs in a gritty all-around performance. Setter Kassie O’Brien ran the offense with precision, tallying 48 assists and 13 digs.
Kentucky dropped the opening set 21–25 but roared back to take the next three (25–22, 25–15, 27–25). Their efficiency at the net was outstanding, hitting .293 as a team while holding Texas A&M to just .205.
Lizzie Carr added 11 kills on a blistering .588 hitting percentage, and Molly Tuozzo anchored the defense with 19 digs and near-perfect passing.
Championship composure
Coach Craig Skinner has scheduled a guantet and it is definitely paying off for a team that looks to really be on the ascension.
The Wildcats now turn their attention to LSU on Sunday (Oct. 12) before returning home for matches against Auburn (Oct. 15) and Florida (Oct. 19).
Kentucky’s depth, balance, and championship DNA are showing early, and if this continues, Rupp won’t be the only arena hosting big-time banners soon. These ladies are for real.
