Kentucky track and field strikes gold at SEC Indoor Championships

It was a golden day for Kentucky track and field at the SEC Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas, as the Wildcats secured their first medal of the competition. With record-breaking performances and multiple athletes advancing to the finals, UK’s momentum is building heading into the last day of the championship.

Carli Makarawu Continues Historic Season

Junior sprinter Carli Makarawu has been rewriting the record books all season, and Friday was no different. In the 200m prelims, Makarawu set a new school record, breaking the very mark he set just two weeks ago at the Tiger Paw Invite at Clemson.

Makarawu will compete for gold in the 200m final on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. CST as he looks to add another milestone to his remarkable season.

Kate Powers Wins First Career SEC Title

It was a breakout moment for sophomore Kate Powers, who claimed gold in the women’s weight throw with a massive 22.13m mark. She edged out competitors from Ole Miss and Auburn to secure her first collegiate medal.

In just her second season in Lexington, Powers has established herself as one of the top throwers in the country.

Wildcats Qualify for Multiple Finals
