Kentucky starts slow but dominates Minnesota State: Kentucky basketball’s latest star with 24 Points

In an uneven yet dominant first-half performance, Kentucky took control late in the first half against Minnesota State, leading 43-23 at halftime. Kentucky’s quick pace and a flurry of late three-pointers helped them build a substantial lead. Ending the half on a powerful 21-3 run after Minnesota State got close at 22-20. The Wildcats had a slow start from 3-point land, initially going 2-for-13, they managed to close the half on a hot streak, sinking six of their final 11, finishing 8-for-24 (33%).

Jaxson Robinson led the scoring effort with 15 points, 5-for-9 from three. In addition to his scoring, Robinson contributed four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Otega Oweh also made a solid impact, scoring nine points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.

While Robinson led the scoring, it was Trent Noah who was the unsung hero of the first half. Noah didn’t dominate the stat sheet but brought an essential calming presence on defense. His communication and well-timed blockouts helped Kentucky regain control during Minnesota State’s brief run. Noah’s passing also stood out, helping to set up open shots for teammates and keeping the offense fluid.

Kentucky faced a setback as Amari Williams left with what appeared to be a knee injury and did not return to the bench. Travis Perry did not see any game action in the first half, but Kerr Krissa got his first taste of the preseason career at Kentucky after missing the last game as a precaution.

The second half began much like the first ended, with Kentucky continuing its hot shooting to extend the lead to 78-47 by the 12-minute timeout that came at the 10-minute mark. By that point, Jaxson Robinson had already nailed eight three-pointers, and Kentucky was cruising comfortably.

The team’s depth and cohesion were on full display, with Jaxson Robinson leading the way with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. His eight three-pointers were a game-high. Otega Oweh also played a crucial role in Kentucky's success, contributing 15 points along with 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Andrew Carr chipped in with a solid all-around performance, finishing with 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Brandon Garrison also made an impact with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and one fabulous dunk.

Collin Chandler and Koby Brea each added 7 points. Chandler also had 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Trent Noah had 3 points and 4 rebounds. Both Travis Perry and Walker Horn got in the game, but neither scored.

Overall, Kentucky continued to showcase the team's depth. With multiple players stepping up on both ends, Kentucky established control late in the first half and never looked back, winning 98-67.
