Kentucky's 14-loss nightmare will be laid bare today in CBS documentary

Bummed out that Kentucky won't be playing in the Final Four later today? You certainly aren't alone. When the season started, there were massive expectations. But while the Wildcats won't be taking the floor in Indianapolis to cut down the nets, they will still be taking over the national television airwaves this afternoon.

CBS is officially airing “Kentucky Basketball CONFIDENTIAL,” a massive, all-access documentary chronicling UK’s highly turbulent 2025-26 season. The special airs today at 1 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.

Camera crews were fully embedded with the team all season long, which means we are about to get an incredibly rare look behind the curtain. And most importantly, we may finally get to see the raw, unfiltered footage of exactly what happened during the now-infamous Louisville pregame.

My money is that it definitely wasn't just Mark Pope playing it up and trying to be like Taylor Swift.

Must-see TV or just ripping off a fresh scab?

While getting elite, behind-the-scenes access is usually a dream for fans. Will it be this year? We just went through the season. Do you think reliving it again might just be too much for Big Blue Nation to stomach right now?

Let's be brutally honest: the season went really, really badly.

The documentary is going to force fans to re-watch a historic 14-loss campaign, a disastrous 9th-place finish in the SEC, injuries to key players, and crushing blowouts that frustrated everyone. For some, getting to see how the coaching staff and players handled that immense adversity behind closed doors will be absolute must-see TV. For others, it is simply going to be something they don't care to watch back.

Despite the brutal on-court results, there were a lot of tough times, like the terrible losses to Michigan State and Gonzaga. But the season started with hope, as seen in the trailer when Pope said:

"Starting journeys is scary because you don’t know what’s gonna happen. Things go good, they go bad, they go sideways. You know you’re gonna have challenges, you know you’ll have tough times. It can be terrifying to start a journey, but I ain’t scared at all. You know why? Because I know who I’m traveling with."

The timing of this national broadcast is certainly fascinating. Dropping a highly produced, emotionally charged documentary about a heavily flawed roster just days before the transfer portal officially opens will certainly get the fanbase, and potentially future recruits, talking.
