Kentucky needed bodies at WR on the last day of the portal. Will Stein threw a lot of resources into the DeAndre Moore pursuit, and it left Kentucky with some ground to make up for its other WR targets. Luckily, they did just that and grabbed two WRs that should come in and fight for time.
Shane Carr will look to transition from FCS to FBS success

Shane Carr committed to Kentucky, coming to Lexington from Southern Utah. The FCS transfer nabbed a team-high 744 yards on 50 catches last year, converting 4 of those into TDs. At 6'2, he will be fighting for playing time on the outside in Will Stein's offense, a place that Kentucky needs to find an answer.
Nic Anderson just wants to stay healthy

Nic Anderson is a former 4-star WR out of TX who joined up with Oklahoma as a Top 40 WR in the class of 2022. He redshirted his first year, then broke onto the scene in a big way with 798 yards on 38 catches with 10 TDs. Since then, injuries have derailed the wideout. He has had car accidents, a concussion, nagging injuries while he was playing, and a quadriceps injury. He also picked up a knee injury that required crutches back in November, but looks to have escaped serious injury. If he can actually stay healthy and on the field, the talent is there. But there are serious concerns about whether he can actually do that in a rugged SEC.
These two signings signify a willingness of the staff to reach out and take some gambles. There is no sure-fire way to know who will work out once you bring them in, but sometimes transitioning from the FCS to FBS works wonderfully. I mean, Trinidad Chambliss came from Division II. If the coaching staff is good at evaluating talent and fit, Carr could be a steal.
As for Anderson, the talent is undeniable. The physical tools are all you need to be successful, but the best ability is availability. Until he proves he can stay on the field without getting dinged up, this one will be a question mark. If he does stay healthy, Kentucky has its new wide receiver 1.
Will Stein is still working the channels to try to fill out his first roster at Kentucky, so make sure you stay tuned to our portal tracker here to stay on top of the latest news.
