The Kentucky Wildcats lost two of their best players on the entire team when Deone Walker announced he was headed to the NFL and Keeshawn Silver decided to transfer. The trouble with those two losses is both play the same position: defensive tackle. The Wildcats needed to address these losses via the portal and the first of hopefully a few additions at that position has come via DT Jaden Williams.
Williams was one of the better defensive tackles in the portal as he is a big body at 6'4 and 290 pounds, and he has been more than effective in stopping the run at Wyoming. He had 20 tackles this season and 0.5 sacks playing in every game for the Cowboys. Kansas State, Arizona State, Georgia, Minnesota, and Kentucky were all pursuing him.
While this will only fill one of the big losses, it is a good edition for the Wildcats with two years of eligibility left to play. He won't simply be a one-year rental and will plan to fit into the middle of that defensive line for the next couple of seasons.
This is now Kentucky's 10th transfer addition. They are slowly plugging the holes that they lost in the transfer portal. They are up past 20 in subtractions and already closing in on halfway there in the first portal period. It's also the third player to commit to the Cats today; they added wide receiver Kendrick Law from Alabama, running back Dante Dowdell from Nebraska, and now Jaden Williams from Wyoming.
The portal has been hot for the Wildcats, and we are keeping track of all the subtractions and additions as they come and go. We are updating our transfer portal tracker all the time using the link below. This also features all the players who have announced they are leaving for the NFL Draft.
