College football recruiting is a bloodsport. Until a kid is on campus and locked in, you can never count your chickens before they hatch. Case in point: Kentucky football is in a battle with several huge programs like Georgia and Oregon for three-star LB Drew Williams.
Williams is a Canton, Ga. native, which is about two hours outside of Athens, and is continuing to hear from Georgia who are hoping for a flip. But the home-state product told KSR that, "It's really nothing to worry about." With that, he has told Kirby Smart thanks, but no thanks.
That is definitely reassuring to hear, especially considering Williams will be in Lexington this Saturday when Alabama comes to town. However, Williams isn't the only name to look out for as Will Stein is hosting a lot of big-time talent.
Kentucky football's major recruiting weekend could be huge for Will Stein
It's not often one of the best high school players in the country shows up in Lexington. Landon Young finished ranked number 12 in the country, but no other Kentucky commit has finished in the top 20. But don't tell that to Will Stein, who is hosting 247Sports 2028 No.2 overall player in the country, Kellan Hall, this weekend. Hall is a 6-4 DL with offers from pretty much everywhere: Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, Notre Dame, and Alabama, just to name a few.
Add in Antonio Thomas Jr., who sits at number 14 in the country in 2028, and the Cats weekend is already jam-packed with talent. But that's not all, not even close. Elsewhere, 4-star WR Antwaun Adams and 4-star CB Phoenix Evans will also be in attendance for a game that Kentucky fans are hoping serves as a jumping-off point for the Will Stein era.
Perhaps the most important visitor is one that Kentucky has already locked up. 2027 top-5 QB Jake Nawrot will also be on campus and will serve as a recruiting tool for guys looking to follow suit to Lexington.
Having your QB of the future on campus with guys he would be playing with is an ideal scenario for Will Stein. Not only can you point to one of the most talented QBs in high school and say, "Do you want to play with him?" He can also do it for you. Talent usually likes to follow talent, and having Nawrot as a pitchman to blue-chip recruits is an amazing asset for Kentucky.
And for good measure, Mark Pope is going to be bringing Lewis Uvwo, a 5-star center, to Kroger Field. Uvwo is a 6-11 stud of an athlete with a 7-6 wingspan. Currently playing down in Fort Lauderdale, Uvwo is the 7th-best player in the class of 2027. And the atmosphere should be electric.
Fans have known about a stripeout for weeks and are encouraged to wear blue or white depending on their sections. The game is going to be on National TV at 3:30 on ABC. Plus, SEC Nation is in town. If Kentucky were to win on the field, it could lead to a lot of dominoes falling off the field too. Now, the Cats have to go out and get it done.
