The Kentucky Wildcats had many problems during their 2024 football season, but there was one that seemed to be the most glaring: the offensive line. It was rated as one of the worst in the SEC and even among the bottom in all of college football. The hope was that the transfer portal would help shore up this issue for the Wildcats. The first of, hopefully, many offensive linemen has chosen to come to Kentucky.

Joshua Bruan, a transfer from the Arkansas Razorbacks, has decided to come play for the Wildcats. He is a huge pickup in multiple ways. Mainly because he is a proven anchor on the interior line, he was voted as an All-SEC guard last season and helped pave the way for Arkansas to have a much better rushing season than many anticipated.

Arkansas was 42nd in the nation in rushing offense, and a big reason was the interior line. Now, one of those players is going to be a Wildcat. This will be part of what Mark Stoops thinks it takes to fix the Kentucky woes. He wants to have a strong rushing attack that will open up opportunities for passing attacks. Kentucky had neither last year.

Stoops also loves the slow-down offense in which the time of possession and the clock winding down is a big part of his philosophy. If Kentucky can't run the football, then that will be an impossible ask. They won't be able to hold on to the time of possession or keep the clock moving if they can't keep the ball on the ground.

Kentucky did have an impressive freshman running back emerge in the backfield with Jamarion Wilcox. He got flack from Stoops for losing his shoes early in the season, but he was explosive, and with the right line, he could be even more effective. Braun is a great addition for Stoops and offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan.
