Will Stein is building a massive coaching staff in Lexington that features a little bit of everything. He has perfectly blended young, hungry minds with proven, high-level experience.

But the one thing this entire staff has in common? Absolute confidence and a work ethic like no other.

They believe they can get this program rolling like never before. They are recruiting like it, they are talking like it, and most importantly, they are hiring like it.

Jerret McElwain brings championship pedigree in the front office

When Kentucky officially announced Jerret McElwain as the program's new Director of Player Personnel, he immediately took to X to let Big Blue Nation know exactly what the internal expectations are for this new era of football:

"Excited to help build this dynasty in Lexington !!! #BBN #GoCats"

If the last name looks familiar to SEC fans, it absolutely should. Jerret is the son of Jim McElwain, the former head coach of the Florida Gators. But Jerret isn't just riding a famous name; he has built an incredible front-office resume of his own at some of the biggest programs in the country.

McElwain spent the last two seasons in Tuscaloosa working as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the Crimson Tide under Kalen DeBoer. Before following DeBoer to Alabama, he was an integral piece of Washington's scouting department during their run to the National Championship game. He originally earned his stripes climbing the ladder in Jim Harbaugh’s elite recruiting department at Michigan.

That is back-to-back-to-back stops at programs that played for a National Title.

The new machine in Lexington

At Kentucky, McElwain will slide perfectly into the front office to work closely with General Manager Pat Biondo and Assistant GM Pete Nochta.

Together, they are tasked with making sure Kentucky's roster management and talent acquisition operate as a seamless, modern machine. They have to evaluate high school talent, navigate the transfer portal, and build out a roster capable of competing at the top of the SEC. They will be taking a lot of things off Will Stein's plate, who will be focusing on being a first-time head coach.

Judging by his public "dynasty" talk, McElwain fits right in with the massive expectations Will Stein is setting. He knows what a championship roster looks like, and now it is his job to bring one to Lexington. I wouldn't bet against this staff doing just that.
