As Kentucky prepares for its Week 3 matchup against Eastern Michigan, the team is still dealing with injuries at a few key positions. The secondary, which was expected to be a major strength this season, continues to be hampered by absences, and all eyes will be on the quarterback situation following last week's game.

While the Wildcats are heavy favorites, their depth will be tested as they look to get healthy before returning to the grind of the SEC schedule.

Updates on DJ Waller, Zach Calzada, and More

The most significant absence continues to be in the secondary, where starting cornerback DJ Waller Jr. is unlikely to play for the second consecutive week. In his absence against Ole Miss, JQ Hardaway and Terhyon Nichols took the vast majority of snaps, with backup Kevis Thomas playing only four. Expect a similar rotation against an Eastern Michigan team that attempts around 32 passes per game.

At running back, Jamarion Wilcox remains unlikely to suit up as he deals with personal issues, though he is officially listed as questionable. The running back is dealing with allegations of domestic violence.

The biggest news is at quarterback, where Zach Calzada returned to practice this week after leaving the Ole Miss game with an injury. Coach Mark Stoops stated that Calzada was splitting reps with freshman Cutter Boley and that both quarterbacks will play on Saturday. This game provides a low-pressure environment for both players to build confidence and help an ailing passing attack find some much-needed rhythm. Eastern Michigna has given up over 450 yards of offense in both games this season. The last time Kentucky had that many yards was against Murray State, an FCS team. The last FBS team was Ohio back in September of last year.
