Last year, it was Maxwell Hairston. The Kentucky defensive back completely broke the internet with a blazing 4.28-second 40-yard dash.

This year? The pure shock factor is coming from the defensive trenches.

David Gusta just put the entire NFL on notice.

A 308-pound man should not move this fast

At 6-foot-3 and 308 pounds, the Kentucky defensive lineman just clocked an official 4.88 40-yard dash.

That is absolutely insane. To put that massive number in perspective, it tied him for the fifth-fastest time among all defensive linemen this year, including defensive ends. Scouts already knew he was incredibly strong. But nobody saw that kind of freakish, straight-line speed coming from a man that size. But they are definitely taking notice now.

David Gusta earned the nickname "Bone"

Gusta transferred to Kentucky in 2025 after spending four highly productive seasons at Washington State. And he immediately made his presence felt in Lexington.

He originally earned the nickname "Bone" while playing out west. Why? Because his intense, overly physical style of play during practices literally resulted in injuries to several of his own teammates. He simply hits that hard.

During his lone senior season with the Wildcats, he started all 12 games. He tallied 12 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack. The stats don't jump out, but you have to remember this is a nose tackle, and in Kentucky's defense, that spot is more about taking on blockers to allow others to make plays.

Gusta proved his leadership by being named one of four game captains at Georgia, and capped off his college career with an invite to the prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl. He played in 44 career college games with 36 starts, racking up 74 total tackles.

He already had the film and the physical toughness to play at the next level. But after that 4.88 sprint?

His draft stock is officially soaring.
