Kentucky football continues to show up unprepared for SEC games

It was another embarrassing loss for the Kentucky Wildcats against the Florida Gators.

There have been only two SEC games that the Kentucky Wildcats seemed prepared for: Georgia and Ole Miss. That's it. Two games! No wonder they are sitting at 1-4 in the conference. It's become the consistent theme for the season, under-prepared, and thus, they underperform. Today was another example, as the Kentucky Wildcats were dominated by the Florida Gators 48-20.

If it hadn't been for the individual effort of Barion Brown in the first half, it could have been much worse. They didn't have much of a plan to move the ball on the offensive side of the football, and for once this season, the defense looked like a shell of itself. They allowed five touchdowns to a true freshman, Jadan Baugh. This goes along with the 476 yards of total offense given to the Gators.

With no plan on offense and no plan on defense, the game got away from them very quickly, and Kentucky fell into the basement of the SEC. Back-to-back losses and 3 of 4 in the SEC. The one silver lining is that Ole Miss is upset.

Kentucky didn't come into the game against South Carolina ready. It was much like this one, full of frustrating performances and lack of execution.

Kentucky didn't come into the game against Vanderbilt ready. That game was full of miscues, penalties, and a lack of execution.

And now, they add another game to their SEC resume of "unprepared." They knew all week that they were getting a true freshman quarterback in Florida, and Billy Napier's style of offense is very well documented. One of the reasons he is struggling in his own right is that he can get stuck and doesn't adapt. So, Mark Stoops and the coaching staff knew what was coming, and they weren't prepared.

The coaching staff has to do a better job of getting these players ready for games and truly has to come up with game plans to win. It worked against Ole Miss. It even worked against Georgia (or so close). What has happened since?
