The Kentucky Wildcats suffered a frustrating and miserable loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes, and fans were not happy about it at all. Some of the most pessimistic were already spelling the end of the season and wanting a new coach. Others of the more optimistic variety still saw a drop in the rankings and a rough road ahead in SEC play. They were surprised when the AP Top 25 was released today, and Big Blue Nation saw that Kentucky was still a top 10 team, coming in at exactly 10.

The most common word that was used by Kentucky fans after the release of the poll was the word "fair." Not that many Wildcat fans thought 10 was where the team should be, but more that dropping 6 spots after losing to Ohio State by 20 seemed like a fair "punishment."

On that post alone, over half of the comments had the word "fair" in them. Some of them had "very fair" or even simply the word "fair" with a period. There were plenty that thought it was generous but made sense. Fans often point to it as one bad loss, but remind others that Kentucky still has two top-5 NET wins against Gonzaga (5) and Duke (3).

However, of the more optimistic variety of Kentucky fans, we get that they felt it was unfair and too harsh of a punishment for a loss to a quad-1 team and a Power 5 Big-10 opponent.

While dropping six spots is a lot for only one loss, another thing that played against the Kentucky Wildcats is that no other top-15 team lost this last week. Many of the teams picking up multiple wins. The simple reality of no other team around them losing made it so they slipped more than they would have if it had been a chaotic week of basketball.
