Caleb Wilson, the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, has narrowed his college choices to three schools and announced that he will make his final decision on Thursday, January 23rd. The 6-foot-9 power forward from Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Georgia is one of the most coveted recruits in the country, ranked as the No. 2 power forward according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

A Rising Star

Wilson’s blend of size, athleticism, and versatility makes him a standout on both ends of the floor. Measuring at 6-foot-9 with a 7-foot wingspan and a 9-foot standing reach, he has the physical tools to dominate the game. According to Adam Finkelstein, Director of Scouting for 247Sports, Wilson is a "wiry four-man with significant two-way tools."

Finkelstein adds that Wilson's defensive versatility is among the best in his class, noting his ability to switch onto guards, protect the rim, and generate deflections. Wilson averaged 2.5 blocks per game during the EYBL circuit, demonstrating his impact as a rim protector, while his mobility and length allow him to guard multiple positions.

Offensively, Wilson thrives in a complementary role. Though not a natural alpha scorer, he excels as a secondary threat, showcasing strong offensive rebounding, solid passing, and the ability to score in transition or close to the rim. His soft touch and quick drives add an extra layer of offensive versatility. However, his outside shooting remains a work in progress, with inconsistent mechanics that he will look to refine at the next level.

NIL and NBA Potential

Wilson’s talent extends beyond the hardwood, as evidenced by his $1.3 million On3 NIL Valuation, which ranks 6th among high school basketball players. This valuation considers performance, influence, and exposure, reflecting Wilson’s marketability and prominence in the basketball world.

Scouting comparisons have drawn parallels to NBA stars, with his size and versatility evoking memories of a young Chris Bosh. As Wilson continues to develop his game, his potential to be a floor-spacing big with elite defensive capabilities makes him a prospect with an extremely high ceiling.

The Final Decision

Wilson will choose between Kentucky, North Carolina, and Ohio State on January 23rd. Each of the three schools vying for his commitment will be getting a player with the potential to significantly impact their program and possibly the NBA down the line.

There is also a split of national analysts as well as some have North Carolina in the lead, others have the Cats on top. Fans will find out in less than a week.
