Andrew Carr, the star forward for the Kentucky Wildcats, provided some funny comic relief while visiting New York City this week. The Wildcats are in town to play in the CBS Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden. They will be taking on the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday at 5:30 pm EST. While they are in New York City, they have been seeing some of the sights and enjoying the time together, even seeing Hamilton on Broadway.
It wasn't a Hamilton-inspired joke that had fans and followers on social media laughing; it was a joke that originally came from Michael Scott and The Office. He reenacted it perfectly down to the phrasing, timing, and even crossing the street at the end. If you don't know what I am talking about, first watch Carr in action and then scroll down to see the original.
How did Andrew do? As a The Office fan, I found it perfect down to the timing and even the camera person's zoom-in on the Sbarro logo at the end. Now, if you don't get the joke, I may ruin it by explaining it to you, but here we go. Sbarro does serve New York Style pizza, and it did come out of New York, but now they are all over the world with something around 600+ locations. Thus, you don't need to go all the way to New York to get it. Michael Scott sets up the joke as if it's some local one-of-one spot that he can only get when he comes to New York. See, I had to explain it, and now it's a bust. Or maybe it's not, go watch it again and see.
The Kentucky Wildcats take on the Ohio State Buckeyes today, December 21 at 5:30 pm EST at Madison Square Garden. The game will air on CBS.
