Kentucky basketball poised to add two elite recruits: Are commitments imminent?
By Mark Knight
Kentucky basketball already has one of the top recruiting classes in the nation, but Mark Pope isn't finished. He is looking to add a few more top-level recruits before next season, and it's looking like two are close to committing to Kentucky. At least, that's what many insiders are starting to indicate.
Acaden Lewis was the first recruit in history to have his official photoshoot on an LED floor, and while many analysts thought Kentucky was the favorite even at that point, they may have sealed the deal during Big Blue Madness.
Since that moment, more and more insiders have put "crystal ball" predictions for Lewis to land at Kentucky. It seems like he picks up a new crystal ball each day. If you don't know, crystal ball is a term that 24/7 sports recruiting uses when they predict a recruit's commitment. They only do this when they start to have some confidence to predict that way. As of now, there are four crystal balls for Lewis to land at Kentucky; two of them have a high confidence level, and two are listed as medium.
Lewis is currently down to Kentucky, Duke, and UCONN. According to reports, he plans to commit in the first week of November.
The other high-profile recruit is Caleb Wilson. He is one of the best players in the class and a top-10 recruit. He has interest from all over the country, but most assume it'll be either North Carolina, Kentucky, or Arkansas. However, Lewis and Wilson have talked about playing together. They may not end up being a package deal, but whoever lands the first of those two would find it easier to land the other—or at the very least, one more edge.
While Kentucky has always been one of the favorites to land Wilson, more and more are also starting to indicate that he could soon commit to the Wildcats. Just today, this tweet sent some shockwaves:
Is Kentucky close to adding both Lewis and Wilson? It's looking more and more likely, but don't put the cows in the barn yet.
