Kentucky is heading to Gainesville to face a team that is playing as well as anybody in the entire country right now. I am not trying to be negative, but have you seen what the Gators have done lately?
It is genuinely scary, pair that with Kentucky's Jekyll and Hyde routine, and you could see how things could get away from the Cats.
The Gators are 11-4 in their last 15 games, which is good. But their last 3 games? They have been absolutely spectacular in every way. Maybe they are due for a stinker? Because they have been playing perfect basketball for two weeks straight.
Florida is on a destruction tour
It started when they demolished Alabama by 23 points, but let's not gloss over just how they rolled the Tide. They bullied and demoralized Alabama, scoring 72 points in the paint. They physically manhandled them in every facet of the game.
Then they went on the road to Texas A&M, which was leading the conference at the time, and playing as well as anyone in the SEC. The Gators won by 19.
And last night? They traveled up to Athens to take on former coach Mike White and the Bulldogs. They didn't just win. They obliterated them 86-67. Xaivian Lee had 18. Boogie Fland had 15. They have dudes everywhere on the floor.
The stakes are insane
Now they set their sights on the Cats. Kentucky is coming into Gainesville on a 3-game win streak and just jumped back into the Top 25. Things are feeling eerily similar to 2014. The Cats will be hoping this game is not a repeat of that one. The stakes literally could not be higher for a team looking to separate itself from the field:
If Kentucky wins, we find ourselves all alone in first place in the SEC. If Kentucky loses, we fall into a chaotic 6-way tie for 3rd place.
That is about as big of a game as you can get.
