Trent Noah and Collin Chandler are all in on the return of the denim uniforms

Have they heard about a Canadian Tuxedo?

We all knew it was coming. The "Book 1" denim shoes from Devin Booker and Nike gave us a huge hint as to what they would look like. But after seeing the full outfit, I gotta tell you that I love them, and I am absolutely amped.

This Saturday, when the Tennessee Vols visit Rupp Arena for a primetime showdown, Kentucky will officially honor the 1996 National Championship team by wearing Denim-inspired uniforms.

I know some of you reading this will hate them because the 90s were a specific time, and the denim look is bold. Not everyone is going to like it. But I also know there are plenty of you who will absolutely love them. It is a callback to arguably the greatest college basketball team ever assembled, the "Untouchables" squad that went 34-2.

Current players love the throwback look

You can count current Wildcats Trent Noah and Collin Chandler among the fans of the look. Even though they weren't even born when Tony Delk and Antoine Walker were hanging banners, they know the vibe is unmatched.

"I think they'll be sweet," Collin Chandler said. "It'll be sweet for the fan base to kind of bring those back and bring back some memories... I think the fan base will love it. Give them a 10, of course."

Trent Noah, a Kentucky native who understands the history better than most, hasn't seen the final product yet, but he is already sold. "I know they'll be fire and I'm excited to wear those," Noah said. "I like how a lot of different clothing brands are pushing out just regular stuff in denim like hats... I'm a fan of it. I like it."

Since Mr. Noah loves him some denim, perhaps we could get a little Canadian tuxedo action? For those that don't know, a Canadian tuxedo is just wearing denim on denim. It started back in the 50's, Bing Crosby was denied entry into a hotel because he loved denim a little too much. Well, Levi's said absolutely not; they made a custom denim suit for Crosby. I have to be honest, I did not know that until I started looking it up. The more you know.

The one rule is you can't lose

This isn't just a fashion show, though. It’s a war. Kentucky vs. Tennessee is always heated, but the recent chapters have added serious fuel to the fire. The Cats swept the Vols in the regular season last year, only for Tennessee to get the last laugh by knocking UK out of the Sweet 16. The Cats already bounced back by walking into Knoxville last month and stealing a win.

Now Kentucky looks for the regular-season sweep again. But there is one golden rule when you break out special uniforms, which is that you cannot lose in them.

Older fans remember the trauma of 2002 when the Cats debuted special silver uniforms only to get smacked by Michigan State. We never saw those jerseys again. So let’s not ruin the denim, guys.

Look good, play good, and beat the Vols.
