The screens are going dark for Kentucky Baseball and Softball this weekend

5-1 start. Opening Day. And we can't watch any of it.

If you were planning to spend your weekend glued to the couch watching Kentucky Baseball open their season, or Kentucky Softball continue their hot start... I have some bad news.

Let's just say you might want to dust off the old FM radio if you have one, or plug that laptop or phone in to listen online.

In a twist that honestly feels ridiculous for 2026, neither team will have a live video stream to kick off the weekend. We have so many cameras and streaming options, but BBN is officially in the dark for Kentucky baseball's season opener against UNC Greensboro and Kentucky softball's Cardinal Invitational run.

Baseball: The opening day blackout

Pro teams get blacked out all the time, people are used to it, but college baseball in this day and age? Strange. The 18th-ranked Bat Cats are in North Carolina to play UNC Greensboro, and apparently, cameras are optional there. There is NO Live Stream for the entire three-game series and no plans for highlights. None.

We have a Top-20 team, and we have to follow the stats on our radios like it's 1994, though I'll be honest, there is something nostalgic about turning on the radio and being invested in the call.

The Cats did announce their rotation for the series though

  • Friday: Jaxon Jelkin
  • Saturday: Ben Cleaver
  • Sunday: Nate Harris

How to Follow:

Thank goodness for the UK Sports Network. Jeff Piecoro will be on the call, so at least we can hear what is happening.

Softball: A mess at Stanford

The Softball team is 5-1 and has looked electric at times this season. Hailey Nutter threw a No-Hitter in her first career college start, but you won't be seeing them on TV either. They are at the Stanford Invitational, but due to "facility issues" at Stanford's stadium, the games have been moved to a local college field.

Because of the move, there will again be NO television broadcast for Thursday's games against Cal State Fullerton and Stanford.

The rest of the weekend (Oregon/Cal Poly) is technically "TBD," but things aren't looking good right now. We will bring you all the latest news as it breaks.

It is a massive bummer to every baseball fan out there. The good news is that we will be tracking every pitch and updating you here since you can't see it for yourself.
