Kentucky has added another lineman today in Evan Wibberley, who is one of the highest-rated linemen in the portal. He is a center out of Western Kentucky, and he is now the fourth lineman to commit to Kentucky in this early transfer portal cycle.
Wibberley joins Wallace Unamba, Alex Wollschlaeger, and Joshua Braun as the transfer line additions. Is this the full rebuild of the line? It very well could be, as they have added better-graded linemen on almost every position according to PFF on pass protection scores. Here are the grades according to PFF from the 2024 season:
Center - Evan Wibberley: 84.7
RG - Joshua Braun: 83.0
T - Alex Wollschlaeger: 75.3
T - Wallace Unamba: 66.1
If this is the end of the additions, the line will probably look like RT Unamba, RG Bruan, C Wibberley, LG Jalen Farmer, and LT Alex Wollschlaeger. Farmer is already on the team and is the highest-graded lineman left on the team. He was graded at a 71.1 according to PFF last year. According to Justin Rowland of Rivals.com, this would elevate Kentucky's line from a 64.12 to a 76.04, which is a huge upgrade.
The downside to this list is that there's not a true left tackle yet; both Wollschlaeger and Unamba played right tackle last year. This means they could still be looking out there for a left tackle or maybe try in the second transfer portal period.
However, if it is the end of the additions on the line, the team has gotten dramatically better at both protecting the quarterback and blocking for the run. Wibberley is a big pick up for the Wildcats, he is a Kentucky native coming from Edgewood, KY, he started every game at center for Western Kentucky and earned All-CUSA honors.
