Brock Vandagriff suffered a head injury in the Kentucky Wildcats' last road game against the Tennessee Volunteers. There was concern that it may take him a couple of weeks to recover from concussion symptoms and get back in the game. The good news for Vandagriff was that he had an extra week to heal, with Kentucky being on its second bye week of the year last weekend.
This weekend, they take on Murray State in a non-conference game at home in Lexington, KY. Head coach Mark Stoops expects his starting quarterback, Vandagriff, to be ready to go—not just playing but starting. He said, "I expect him to be out there under center on the first offensive snap." He goes on to say he was able to be at practice today in their walk-through.

This is important news not only for Vandagriff's health but also for the team. There was some talk about what they would do if Vandagriff couldn't go. Do you run Gavin Wimsatt out there as the starter, even though he's more of a veteran and has proven to be ineffective? Or do you go with the true freshman in Cutter Boley and hope these game reps will really help him develop? There are some in Big Blue Nation that are asking for Boley to get the start even if Vandagriff is healthy.
The logic is that Murray State is almost a guaranteed win, and it would give Boley a chance to grow, learn, and be ready for next season. There is some certainty that Boley will get action in this game, especially as the game gets out of hand. Murray State is 1-9 and is getting blown out by far worse teams than Kentucky, so this will be a good "get right" game for the Wildcats.
