The Kentucky basketball question on everyone's mind before they tip off against Colgate tonight is whether or not Lamont Butler will play. Will he be able to suit up and give it a go? The short answer to this question is that it will be a game-time decision. At least that's every indication from head coach Mark Pope and Kentucky basketball.

UPDATE: Butler is INACTIVE for the game against Colgate.

A quick refresher: Butler injured his ankle against Clemson. He taped it up and played the rest of the game, but after the game and the next few days, he struggled to make cuts and be explosive. Pope held him out of the Gonzaga game because he wasn't 100% healthy.

Update on Butler

December 9 - Butler was not practicing but was able to get some work in. He is mostly resting his ankle to get it right and fully healed. Pope called it day-to-day.

"We're gonna see how he responds tomorrow morning and see how he feels. But, we're really feeling sooner rather than later. It's a matter of days. I would like those days to include a game on Wednesday. We'll see how that goes."

December 10 - Kentucky does not have to disclose any further updates since it's a non-conference game. There was nothing new to report from Tuesday.

December 11 - Game day, and the plan seems to be testing it before the game again and making the decision.

The good news is, Colgate is a buy game and thus should be a win unless things go horribly wrong. There's no reason to push him into a game if he's still not 100%. It will be more important to have him down the stretch than immediately, and that was Pope's stance for Gonzaga, so that will assuredly be the same for Colgate.
