If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta keep the ball in your hand.
There are plenty of songs about Texas that could be interjected here for Kentucky fans to convey how they really feel tonight, but it's doubtful that any of them will make that loss sting any less. This game felt like a game that Kentucky was in control of throughout, until the final three minutes.
This was a collapse for the ages.
Kentucky was seemingly in the driver's seat up 69-64 with about three and a half minutes remaining, until Tre Johnson proceeded to will his way to a circus shot under the basket and get the and-one. After hitting the free throw that cut the Kentucky lead to two, 69-67. That was likely the moment Kentucky fans realized they were in trouble. In the final three minutes Texas outscored Kentucky 15-8, and at times just looked like they completely forgot how to play the game of basketball.

Turnovers and lack of three-point shooting proved to be kryptonite for Kentucky tonight.
Kentucky turned the ball over 15 times which led to 21 points off turnovers for the Longhorns. Being extremely shorthanded doesn't help matters, but turning the ball over that many times and shooting 5-23 from behind the arc is a recipe for disaster, especially for a team whose bread and butter is knocking down the three ball. Koby Brea played arguably his worst game of the season going 0-6 from the field, his four points all came from the charity strike. Kentucky ended the game having more turnovers than assists, a recipe that has kept them winless in games where they have a negative assist to turnover ratio.
Kentucky tonight had just 10 assists to 15 turnovers.

Cats are winless this season when having a negative assist-TO ratio.
Kentucky wasted a brilliant performance from Amari Williams.
Williams finished the game with 18 points and 12 rebounds to go along with 3 assists. The Kentucky big man is putting together a dominant string of performances since SEC play started. He even hit his first three-pointer of the season. Being without Butler, Robinson, and Kriisa is absolutely back breaking, but this team has been able to grind out some wins in their absence. If you were to take Amari Williams off this team, they would be dead in the water.
What can’t Amari Williams do? pic.twitter.com/tbAR8MSunY

How is BBN holding up tonight?
Most Kentucky fans likely thought this game would end in a loss, but for some reason this one hurt more than normal. Being in the lead for 22:46 and blowing the game in the final minutes will likely have fans running a little hotter than normal.
So Kentucky loses another game they have no business losing.

I know we don’t have our guards but we had this game won and just absolutely pissed it away due to bad effort and decision making

Kentucky was the better team even with the missing players
Just embarrassing
Nothing worse than someone trying to tell you a loss “doesn’t matter”.

We talk about Kentucky Basketball having the most wins in NCAA history for a reason.
Every. Damn. Game. Matters.
Last one, but best tweet of the night.
It was like Kentucky handed the controller to their little brother the last 3 mins of this game.

Kentucky fans will likely be turning the bat signal back on for Jaxson Robinson and Lamont Butler quite soon if the Wildcats take another loss to another inferior opponent. Kentucky will get a chance to get back on track Tuesday when Vanderbilt comes to Rupp Arena.
