From build to rebuild: Mark Stoops owes fans the truth about Kentucky’s downfall

Does he even know how it broke? If he doesn't, how can he fix it?

Mark Stoops is either convinced he can fix what is broken with Kentucky football or gaslighting fans into thinking he knows what he's doing. Those are the options; he can either fix it or can't. However, the problem with him fixing it is that Big Blue Nation doesn't believe him. Many aren't even convinced he knows how it broke. He needs to start there and explain to your donors, fanbase, players, and coaches how it fell apart first. You have to start there.

If you hire an appliance repairman who can't tell you why your dishwasher is broken, you certainly don't want him to fix it. If you take your car to the mechanic and he doesn't know what's wrong, the last thing you want him to do is start replacing stuff. Or worse yet, if these repair people have identified the problem wrong. You don't need to replace the alternator if it's just a bad tire. This is the worry with Mark Stoops. Does he even know how he broke it?

Stoops's messaging is "I know how to fix it" and "I am excited for the rebuild." Fans and media should demand he tell them what is broken. "What is the problem in your mind, Stoops?" They should follow up with, "Why are we rebuilding in year 13? Can you explain how this thing fell apart?"

It can't be a talent problem, which is what Stoops seems to indicate. This is part of the fear that he is gaslighting BBN, for Stoops has one of the most talented rosters he has ever had and failed with it. He has won with way less. It has to be a discipline and accountability problem. Ja'Mori Maclin said, "[The problem is that we need] a lot more leadership. Holding guys accountable for things. A lot more discipline for all the guys." He says this is true for everyone, players and coaches.

If Stoops wants the opportunity to carry out a rebuild, he needs to show us how the house collapsed. He's the one who built it in the first place. Why does it already need to be rebuilt?
