If there is one player who knows what success is like at Kentucky, it is former basketball player John Wall. The same John Wall who went on to have a fantastic NBA career and had a lot of success in the sport. Wall knows a lot about the Kentucky basketball program, and that is why when he starts talking, Big Blue Nation listens.
On Yahoo Sports Daily, a sports podcast produced by Yahoo Sports, Wall joined the show to talk about Kentucky basketball and the state the program is in now under head coach Mark Pope. Wall knows that at Kentucky, they want more than tournament appearances; they want banners in the rafters, and he sees the Wildcats being able to do that under Pope, but there is one fix they need to make.
Wall began to talk about teams knowing their identity and really who they are as a team, and he called out the Wildcats for not knowing what that identity is.
John Wall calls out Kentucky basketball for not knowing what its identity is
"You just got to find what your team is about, and build that identity; that's the most important thing," Wall said. "That's the hard part with Kentucky, they don't really know what their identity is."

Wall makes a great point in talking about Kentucky not knowing what its identity is. The Widlcats have been very up and down at times this season, playing well offensively, but struggling on defense. Then cleaning up the defense, but were unable to hit shots. This is a team that Pope has to build completely from the transfer portal, and it is starting to show.
This is not a team that has been around each other for more than a year, and that makes it really hard to find an identity, and Wall is calling Kentucky out for that. While the Wildcats have found success at times, not having that identity will keep them from winning a National Championship.
