Former Kentucky running back Ray Davis has one of the most inspiring life stories to ever come through the football program in Lexington.

After transferring in from Vanderbilt, Davis would become a Second Team All-American (Sports Illustrated), a First Team All-SEC member, and, eventually, he fought his way to the NFL Combine. Now, the Buffalo Bill will have his story told in Hollywood.

Ray Davis, on X, announced that his life would be the inspiration for a new movie, Breakaway Ray.

The movie will focus on Ray's younger years which, as Davis highlights in his post, were rife with life lessons and the journey of finding oneself.

Breakaway Ray

For Davis, many of those years were spent simply trying to survive. “I would sit there for days upon days texting family members, texting friends, asking someone to just take me in temporarily, just for maybe a two-or three-week stint. So I could be back in the real world so that I can go to school,” Davis said. “But as the days go on, you start to realize that nobody wants you.”

He was only 12 years old, looking for a permanent home and family “I was waiting to be adopted or for someone to take temporary care of me,” Davis said. “It was rough because I felt that nobody wanted me. Nobody wanted a 12-year-old. Everybody wanted someone younger they could raise, they wanted them to be theirs."

But that drive to survive fueled a run to becoming one of the best running backs in the SEC, and thereafter, an NFL Pro Bowler.

BBN on the Big Screen

Then, after landing in foster care, Davis pledged to give back to those in that very same system right now. 329,000 to 400,000 children are currently in a similar position; to help, Davis donated to Fostering Greatness Inc., an organization that helps children with life-giving essentials. It's the definition of giving back.

And Davis made it through, finishing with over 1,000 yards at Kentucky and becoming a fourth round pick for the aforementioned Bills. He then went on to make an All-Pro team while garnering Pro Bowl honors for special teams. He's overcome a lot to get to this point, no doubt.

And now, Davis' story will take a BBN fan-favorite to the big screen.
