Former Kentucky player still getting Big Blue Nation’s love at new school

Lance Ware was a fan favorite as a Kentucky Wildcat and one of the recruits that Big Blue Nation was happy to land back in 2020. He played for three seasons with Kentucky, scoring 140 points and hauling in 171 rebounds. He was a force down low and a reliable big year in and year out. Big Blue Nation fell in love with his work ethic, physical play, and defensive ability.

Two seasons ago, he transferred to Villanova to play for the not-as-cool Wildcats, and after one stint there, he went to UT Arlington, where he is playing this year. Kentucky fans haven't forgotten him and are still paying attention to his play. This week, he was awarded the "WAC Newcomer of the Week," which is a great honor for him, but that's not where BBN comes into play; it's in the post sent out by UT Arlington.

UT Arlington doesn't often have much interaction on their social media profile; they may get a few likes and a few retweets, but it's mostly underwhelming. This post received over 500 likes and over 50 comments. What are the comments you ask? I'm sure you've already figured it out; it's Big Blue Nation showing love. It's almost entirely Kentucky fans in the comment sections with posts like, "We love you Lance #BBN" and "Always a Cat! Proud of you Lance!" and so many more.

Kentucky fans haven't forgotten Ware and are continuing to support him no matter where he goes. This is true for many of the fan favorites, and it continues to show that Big Blue Nation is a fanbase unlike any other.

If you are curious about what got him this award, in his last two games for the Mavericks, he played nearly 40 minutes in both games and filled up the stat sheet. In the win over UL Monroe, Ware scored 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, three blocks, and two steals. In the loss to Arkansas State, he had 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and two steals. He's been dominating with his hustle like Kentucky fans knew he would.
