Former Kentucky guard Quade Green gives La Familia the edge over Louisville's squad

Kentucky's La Familia alumni team is quickly coming together ahead of their highly anticipated three-game series with Louisville's The Ville - creative name, I know.

After Kerr Kriisa had to part ways with the former after his breaking arrest, a new player has since joined the roster as Memorial Coliseum prepares to fill up for game one on July 18.

Quade Green, a two-year Cat that ran the floor for John Calipari, has officially come aboard. The point guard's addition was made official by The Basketball Tournament (TBT) on X and, while he wasn't a Wildcat for all of his college career, the Big Blue Nation have more than a few fond memories with Green.

Perhaps most notable therein was his game-winning drive against Vanderbilt in overtime all the way back in January of 2018. Say what you will about his role in the backcourt as compared to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but Green's later successes at Washington proved that the potential was there all along.

After college, Green went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft before spending time in the G League with both the Maine Celtics and the Oklahoma City Blue. He never received an official call-up to the league, but that time spent should still prove invaluable to his TBT efforts.

Now, Green will look to revive the best of his time in Lexington with a return to the city, even if it isn't at Rupp Arena. Kentucky's alumni team appears more suited than ever to take the Cardinals to task.

Suited to Take the Cardinals to Task

Along with Green, who averaged 9.3 points and 2.7 assists in his freshman year with the Cats, returners Kahlil Whitney, Andrew Harrison, Archie Goodwin, and Willie Cauley-Stein team with newcomers like Reid Travis to form what, on paper, looks like the best iteration of this group yet.

Louisville has an admittedly strong bunch too, though. Russ Smith was the expected big name set to run things back this season, but the Cardinals will also benefit from big Malik Williams and guard Trey Lewis.

I don't get any pleasure from chronicling The Ville's positives, but even given a gracious look at their team, it can be argued that the Wildcats have the edge here. The likes of Cauley-Stein and Goodwin alone bring unmatched NBA-level experience (however short) to the matchup.

As La Familia's roster begins to finalize, we'll keep you covered on any incoming additions here. It may not be regular season hoops, but Kentucky fans will never miss an opportunity to watch their guys - new and old - take Louisville to task.

Historic Memorial Coliseum will be rocking come July 18.
