As the SEC baseball and softball regular seasons approach the home stretch, itβs a tale of two trajectories in Lexington.
Kentucky baseball is heating up at just the right time, riding back-to-back series wins to claw back into the thick of the SEC race. Meanwhile, Kentucky softball continues to struggle, falling deeper below .500 in conference play after another tough week.
π΅ Kentucky baseball trending up
After hovering near the bottom of the standings, Mark Wasikowski's Wildcats are finding life in late April. Kentucky now sits at 10-11 in SEC play and 25-16 overall, good for 11th place in the conference. But recent momentum suggests they're far from done.
Their most recent series win bumped them above Florida and Texas A&M in the standings. Itβs their second straight SEC series victory β a signal that the Bat 'Cats might be playing their best ball of the season when it matters most.
Kentucky has also shown resilience on the road, with a 10-6 record away from home, one of the more impressive road marks in the league.

The Cats have lost five of their last seven games and now trail a pack of mid-tier teams like Alabama, South Carolina, and Mississippi State, all tied at 11-10 in league play.

π Whatβs next
For baseball, the Cats will look to build off their late-season surge with a weekend series against Mississippi State (who just fired their coach) that could vault them into the top half of the SEC. Every win matters as Selection Monday looms in late May.
For softball, itβs crunch time. A sweep or a statement win against a ranked opponent might be the only way back into postseason conversation.
Whether itβs a hot bat or a cold streak, one thingβs clear: Kentucky's diamond teams are headed down very different paths β and the finish line is fast approaching.
