EA College Football 25 simulation: Kentucky Wildcats vs. Vanderbilt Commodores showdown – who wins?
By Mark Knight
It's always a fun experiment to see how EA Sports will predict the game score, even if it ends up playing out drastically differently. When we did a sim for the Kentucky vs. Ole Miss game, it predicted a 21-14 win for the Rebels, and it turned out to be almost a flip of that. With Kentucky winning 20-17 and Ole Miss missing a kick to tie it up in the final minutes.
How did EA Sports Football 25 see the game playing out this time? Well, they have Kentucky beating Vanderbilt after multiple overtimes with a final score of 29-25. It was a pretty low-scoring game in regulation, with a score of 10-10. Vandy scored first with a first-quarter field goal, but Kentucky took the lead in the second quarter with a Dane Key 36-yard touchdown from Brock Vandagriff.
In the 3rd quarter, Alex Raynor was able to extend the lead with a big field goal to take the score to 10-3. In the final 25 seconds of the game, Quincy Skinner Jr. pulled down a touchdown to tie the game at 10-10.
When the game went to overtime, it was a back-and-forth affair. In the first overtime, each team matched for a rushing touchdown. In the second overtime, both teams scored a passing touchdown, with both teams able to score their two-point attempts. Finally, Kentucky was able to punch in another two-point conversion to take the lead and win the game.
The game will turn out to be much different.
The first thing you should know is that EA Sports keeps playing Chip Trayanum, and he will not play in this game. It will be entirely the two running backs we have seen all season: Demi Sumo-Karngbayne and Jamarion Wilcox.
I do think the defense will be on display for both teams, and it won't be a high-scoring affair. In the sim, Kentucky had a total of three sacks and Vanderbilt had two sacks. I think that's a good over/under for each team, but we could see some pressure on both quarterbacks. Pavia likes to run and improvise, and I think we may even see a turnover as a result.
It's fun to run the sim, but it will certainly be different than this prediction. Even EA Sports has a tough time figuring out what to do with these two teams and how to predict their performance.
