What a moment, and the entire sports world took notice. Otega Oweh was the definition of clutch when Kentucky needed him the absolute most in a tight March Madness showdown with Santa Clara.

After the Broncos' Allen Graves hit a massive three-pointer, off a pick and pop, with just two seconds left in regulation, the Wildcats' season was pushed to the absolute brink. You could see it on Mark Pope's face. Broncos head coach Herb Sendek frantically tried to call a timeout to set his defense, doing his best to get the officials' attention, but the referees didn't see it. The ball was immediately inbounded to Oweh.

He took a couple of hard dribbles up the floor, and with Mark Pope watching from just a few feet away, he rose up from near half-court. According to Pope's post-game comments, Oweh simply said, "That's a bucket," right as the ball left his hands.

Sure enough, it was.

Otega Oweh "etched his name in March Madness lore"

On the CBS broadcast, Spero Dedes perfectly captured the gravity of the shot, proclaiming that Oweh had just etched his name in March Madness lore. And he did for the moment. Of course, that legendary highlight wouldn't have meant anything if the Cats had collapsed in the extra period. But in overtime, it was junior big man Brandon Garrison who came up huge, securing 2 key blocks and allowing Kentucky to finally put the game on ice.

The moment the final buzzer sounded, the sports world officially unleashed. From Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy to national college basketball analysts, social media was completely set on fire by the survival of Mark Pope's squad.
