Dante Dowdell’s ‘kill it and eat it’ quote spells bad news for Florida Gators

Kentucky and Florida are ready to get it on tonight, but let's flash back to one of the best offensive moments of the season for the Cats.

In the opener, Kentucky and Toledo were in a close, ugly game. Dante Dowdell hit a hole and took it 79 yards for a massive TD that was ultimately the difference in the game. But it was after the game that his legend grew, with a quote that is suddenly very relevant this week.

The SEC Network broadcast shared that he caught alligators as a kid growing up down in Picayune, Mississippi.

“That’s something different,” Dowdell told Alyssa Lang when she brought up the childhood story “We were just fishing and caught a little alligator. If it was now, I probably would have killed it and ate it.”

Kentucky vs Florida kicks off from Kroger Field at 7:30 in a must-win game

Instead of on the bayou, Dowdell will get his shot to get his hands on some Gators on the Kroger Field turf. The Cats are hunting back to back SEC wins for the first time since October of 2018. It happened in 2021, but that season was later vacated because of off the field issues.

Will the result be the same as when he was a kid, and Dowdell dominates the Gators? Or will Florida get some revenge for the gators down there in the swamp? We will find out tonight.

Kentucky has won 4 of the last 7 from the Gators, but fans remember last year’s beatdown in the Swamp. Florida rolled 48-20, with DJ Lagway carving the Cats' defense up at will, finishing with 259 yards on just seven completions.

Yikes. The Cats need to come out focused and playing hard to avoid another embarrassing performance at home. BBN deserves that.
