Cutter Boley’s interception streak is a big concern, but Florida’s defense is ‘embarrassed’

How did the young QB look?

Cutter Boley continued a familiar trend on Saturday: another efficient performance paired with one costly throw.

His second-quarter interception extended his streak to six straight games with at least one INT, a reminder that young quarterbacks often flirt with danger when their internal clock or timing gets disrupted. This particular throw wasn’t close, a sideline shot that sailed too far inside from his receiver with seconds left in the half. Whether it was miscommunication or mechanics, it was a throw he simply can’t make.

And when you’re only throwing 23 passes, every mistake matters.

Young Kentucky football QB was poised, sharp, and in command

But outside of that moment, Boley was poised, sharp, and in total command in a game that was never really close outside the first quarter.

His touchdown strike to J.J. Hester was a perfect example of his arm talent, a layered ball down the boundary with touch and pace, capped by Hester tapping the pylon. He also looked really good when Mark Stoops allowed the temp to play a little up-tempo gameas impressive that caught Florida flat-footed. For stretches, it didn’t resemble a typical Mark Stoops offense at all, and that’s a compliment.

It’s also worth noting the context:

Auburn’s defense last week was elite. Florida’s defense this week was stunned, confused, and openly questioning what happened.

Florida linebacker Myles Graham summed it up, “It’s really embarrassing… I’m blindsided. That’s completely unacceptable, and that’s not the Gator standard.”

And interim coach Billy Gonzales added, “You can be accurate when there’s no pressure on you… We didn’t get off the field on third down. That’s on us.”

Cutter Boley’s Stat Line

  • 18/23
  • 168 yards
  • 2 TD
  • 1 INT
  • 94.2 QBR

Grade: B

Eliminate the interception, and the fumble before halftime, and he’s in solid A territory. But for now, it remains a strong, promising performance from a quarterback who continues to grow.
