As the NBA reshuffled it's distribution rights away from TNT and Turner sports to go with ESPN, Amazon and NBC, NBA fans were worried about the best thing the NBA had going: Inside the NBA. But with Inside the NBA relocating to ESPN, and bringing the entire crew — Kenny, Shaq, Chuck, and Ernie — brought their trademark chaos with them, thankfully. And recently, Tyrese Maxey became the latest target of Charles Barkley’s comedic uppercut. Charles is never afraid to say what's on his mind and that is part of why the show is must-see TV.

Maxey, the former Kentucky and current 76ers star is off to an incredible start:

  • 34.4 PPG — 1st in the NBA
  • 4.9 RPG
  • 8.4 APG — 7th
  • 47.5% FG

All while playing on a 5-year, $204 million max contract which he just signed last year. Live is good for Maxey. He was joined on the show with current Philadelphia rook V.J. Edgecombe who was missing a few things.

When the camera showed Maxey in his home, decorated, polished, expensive, and Edgecombe in a much plainer room with nothing on the walls, Barkley pounced:

“You got paid, and you earned it. Why don’t you buy the young guy some stuff to put on his (expletive) walls? You got all these nice (expletive) paintings — he got just regular white walls.”

Vintage Chuck Barkley is always a good time

That was definitely vintage Chuck. Maxey didn’t mind. He laughed it off and moved on, fresh off a 27-point outing against Cleveland. Philadelphia plays Toronto next on Saturday, as Maxey continues his hunt for an NBA scoring title.

Boy, it is nice that Inside is still going on.
