Kentucky Escapes Oklahoma's Furious Comeback
The sixth-seeded Kentucky Wildcats survived a wild finish against the 14th-seeded Oklahoma Sooners, pulling off an 85-84 victory in a game that nearly slipped away.
Kentucky seemed to have it all wrapped up, leading by 12 points with just over three minutes to go. However, Oklahoma's freshman sensation Jeremiah Fears went on a tear, scoring 28 points and dishing out five assists, including a clutch 3-pointer that brought the Sooners within three points with just 34 seconds remaining.
After a frantic series of plays and turnovers, Fears' layup gave Oklahoma an 84-83 lead with just six seconds left. But Otega Oweh, who led Kentucky with 27 points and five assists, redeemed himself by driving the length of the court and scoring the game-winning layup as time expired.
