It’s almost that time of year, Big Blue Nation, when the leaves start changing it is almost basketball time in the Bluegrass. Big Blue Madness is ready for the new season that is on the horizon, and tickets won’t last long for the annual event.

Key ticket info

  • Date: Friday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. ET
  • Where: Online only at Ticketmaster.com or the Ticketmaster app
  • Limit: Four tickets per household
  • Fees: Minimal service charge applies as Ticketmaster charges fees per purchase.
  • No campout this year, and UK Athletics warns fans not to fall for scams on unofficial sites.

The no campout thing is a bummer, I remember watching so many people drag out generators and basketball hoops and just sit up all night having fun. Of course there were bad things too, so I understand the need to prevent it, but I would love for them to bring it back.

This year’s event is presented by Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass and according to UKathletics.com will feature:

  • Live team and coach introductions
  • SEC Network+ broadcast
  • Special effects and performances
  • Exclusive giveaways and commemorative items
  • BBN United Fan Fest with games, trivia, live podcasts, and autograph sessions

Will Mark Pope break out a signature dance like John Wall did? Will anyone rap like Lamont Butler did last year? We don't know but we hope so. The special effects are also a cool tough as last year's LED floor was such a cool thing to see in person.

The new day long BBN United Fan Fest could make Saturday one of the more fun days for Kentucky basketball fans. Also, will anyone top the surprise of seeing Rick Pitino back in Rupp Arena last year?

Bottom Line

Every year, Big Blue Madness marks the true kickoff of basketball season in Lexington. If you want to be there in person, have your Ticketmaster account ready because when 5 p.m. hits, seats will go fast.
