Cutter Boley has been the talk of the Big Blue Nation for two years, and on Saturday, he finally broke through in 2025 after an injury to Zach Calzada. After leading Kentucky to a 48-23 victory in his first start of the year, the redshirt freshman quarterback made quiet the impression on BBN.

Boley showcased the live arm that has had coaches and fans buzzing, throwing for 240 yards and two touchdowns. But even in a successful debut, the young quarterback had some low moments that will have the staff coaching him up.

First the two near interceptions are throws that against a better team Kentucky will pay for. On a deep out route, Boley made a bad decision and launched it into double coverage. The pass hit the DB's hands and fell to the ground harmless. Against SEC competition that gets picked 90 percent of the time. The second one is a little more forgiving but still one that will result in a bad turnover against SEC competition. After an RPO was called, the young QB saw the slant was open but he didn't put enough air on the ball, and it hit the linebacker in underneath coverage. Again, that pass results in a turnover 90 percent of the time.

Despite those mistakes, the overwhelming feeling was one of excitement and gratitude. BBN was super happy to see the local kid get his shot this year after 2 subpar offensive games. They should be a little cautious to read too much into this game though, as this Eastern Michigan team may the worst team on the entire schedule. But enjoy the moment, Kentucky doesn't score 48 points very often, no matter who the competition.

Zach Calzada also got a little love, and rightfully so.
