The Kentucky Wildcats have fallen to 19-11 on the season and 10-7 in the SEC after a loss to a Texas A&M team that the Wildcats couldn't afford to lose to. A 27-3 run for Texas A&M at the end of the first half ended up dooming Kentucky in the end, making it tough for the Wildcats to mount a comeback.
Choices during that run by head coach Mark Pope are now creating questions for Big Blue Nation as Pope had a timeout in his pocket adn when the avalanche kept burying the Wildcats, he never called it. Pope was going to lose that timeout anyways and in that span of nine minutes, he let his guys fight for themselves on the court.
What’s crazy to me is that Kentucky lost the game on a 9 minute stretch to end the First Half where A&M went on a 27-3 run

Yet Mark Pope didn’t call a Timeout even though he had one he would lose at halftime if he didn’t use it
That’s crazy to me
As a coach, Pope needed to get his off the court and try to stop the momentum of Texas A&M. If it didn't work after calling the timeout, that is one thing, but he didn't even try. This is just another item to add to the long list of questionable calls by Pope this season.
How much does Texas A&M loss hurt Ketucky's seeding for the NCAA Tournament?
The good news for BBN is that before the game against the Aggies, Kentucky had back-to-back wins over South Carolina and No. 25 Vanderbilt, which had their seeding trending upward in the latest NCAA Tournament bracketology.
Theloss to Texas A&M could have had the Wildcats slipping a bit, but they should still be favored with a seed as high as five or as low as seven. With a matchup at home against No. 5 Florida to end the regular season, Kentucky could really help secure one of those higher seeds for the Wildcats.
Florida is currently one of the hottest teams in college basketball right now, so taking down the SEC Champions right before the conference tournament could give give Kenteucky the right momentum and help fans forget some of these questions about Pope.
