I don't know if anybody expected this summer's Kentucky alumni squad to be competing for the $2 million prize last weekend, but that's where the Big Blue Nation found themselves. After a litany of roster issues and an uncomfortably close first series with The Ville, La Familia, led valiantly by Archie Goodwin, found themeslves in the championship game. I hate to break the bad news again, but our former Cats fell just short to Davis Steel, 67-59.
After the heartbreaking second-place finish, in which Goodwin finished with 19 points another best-effort output from the guard, he took to social media to thank the Kentucky fans that showed out in spite of La Familia's disappointing finish. Goodwin is a class act, through and through.
"BBN I just wanna say thank you Guys for all the support this summer," Goodwin began on X, in a post fitted with a handful of pictures from the team's run this time around. "Thank you to La Familia for everything as well. Came up short but we had a ball! God Bless."
Goodwin, even after showing up two games into La Familia's run, was the squad's undisputed hero in their every time of need. He's picked up a second wind as a Kentucky legend due to his efforts for this team; now more than ever, Goodwin has truly earned permanent love in Lexington.

Archie Goodwin Should Run it Back With La Familia
Goodwin wasn't only impressive by La Familia's standards this offseason, not by a long shot. He actually ended up as, at least on paper, the most impressive player in all of TBT. Can we just dub him the MVP?
Per TBT's website, Goodwin scored 99 total points through just four games (that's more than Davis Steel's Gabe York, who posted 89 in five contests), while shooting 44.3% from the field and 42.9% from distance.
The man just scored at will whenever he was needed; if Goodwin had played in La Familia's first two games, those numbers almost certainly would've inflated even more. He was that good this season, and assuming La Familia is back in action at Memorial Coliseum next summer, retaining Goodwin should be Twany Beckham's first priority.
We've got nearly an entire year to go before La Familia fires up Cats fans in the middle of the summer again, but let's all tip our hats to Archie Goodwin once more on his way out. He's the consistent crown jewel of Kentucky's alumni roster, and the BBN would be thrilled to have him back on an annual basis.
