Acaden Lewis is a Wildcat: Mark Pope adds 4-star point guard to loaded 2025 class
By Mark Knight
Acaden Lewis has chosen the Kentucky Wildcats over the UCONN Huskies and the Duke Blue Devils. According to 24/7 Sports, he is the number one player in Washington D.C., the fifth-best point guard, and the 32nd-best player overall. He joins Kentucky's 2025 recruiting class of 5-star Jasper Johnson and 4-star Malachi Moreno.
One of the fans' concerns about hiring Mark Pope as the new head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team was his recruiting prowess. Pope continues to put that worry to bed as he adds another top-50 player to the 2025 recruiting class in Acaden Lewis. He could turn out the best recruiting class in 2025 after only being able to recruit these players for a few months. It would be an impressive first circuit for Pope. Even if the class was done with the three he has, it would be impressive, but he and his staff are not done.
Pope identified Lewis as one of the top targets in the class and has been pursuing his commitment since his hiring. Lewis was one of the main targets at Big Blue Madness and the first recruit in history to take official visit photos on the LED basketball court. It may have been that visit that helped seal the deal for Kentucky, as after that, many analysts began to predict the Wildcats would secure his commitment.
This is a big commitment for Pope not just because he's a high-profile point guard and the future of the program (with both current point guards out of eligibility after this season) but also because he may be what helps secure another recruiting target in Caleb Wilson. Wilson and Lewis have talked openly about playing together and being on the same college team. While that isn't the only factor in their decision, it does help the Wildcats' chances.
Wilson posted this on X, right after Lewis committed to Kentucky:
