Gonzaga dominated the first half of the game against Kentucky and led by 16. They scored 50 points, and it looked like the Wildcats would have no answer. It truly looked like a game that was going to get away from Kentucky, and they would lose by 30. A social media fan account that Barstool runs took to social media and posted at half-time:
How are ya doing little man @BarstoolUK
— Barstool Zags (@BarstoolZaga) December 8, 2024
Big Blue Nation, at the point it was posted, was mostly like, "This sucks." And truly, this account had every right to feel confident and talk smack. Gonzaga hadn't lost a game they had led by double-digits at half-time in 175 games. Trash was being talked by Gonzaga players and fans.
A Gonzaga player called Kentucky’s defense a “sh** show” as the teams walked off the court for half.

Can’t say I disagree at the moment.
Then things changed. The roles were reversed, and Kentucky came out more aggressive, out rebounding Gonzaga and throwing it off. They cut into the lead slowly and eventually made it a tie game, and it went to overtime. Kentucky would go on to win it in overtime. It was that first post, though, sent out by the Zags Barstool account, that Big Blue Nation went back to with some trash talk of their own. There was lots of " Who are you calling, little man?!" energy.
At the time of that posting, it only had a few hearts, comments, and retweets. It went viral after the game when Kentucky fans began to talk their own trash. As of this posting, it has 372 comments, and almost all of them are Kentucky fans. It also has hundreds of quote tweets from Kentucky fans. Here are some of the best:

This could go on and on and on. As mentioned above, there are hundreds of replies and quotes. Two very common replies to that tweet from BBN are: "Update?" and "Pretty good!" Here's the reality: You can't out-trash talk or clown Big Blue Nation. It is a fanbase that is as passionate as any in the nation—moreso even.
